Cemex’s U.S. operations reported net sales of $1.29 billion in the second quarter of 2022, up 15 percent year over year.

The company’s EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization) for U.S. operations decreased 24 percent in the second quarter to $162 million.

Globally, Cemex’s second-quarter net sales increased 11 percent to $4.08 billion. The company says pricing was the main driver of the growth, with cement up 16 percent, ready-mixed concrete up 12 percent and aggregates up 14 percent in the quarter.

Operating EBITDA companywide dropped 8 percent to $723 million due to higher energy costs and supply chain disruptions, according to Cemex.

“I am pleased that our pricing strategy is yielding results and has fully offset inflationary costs in the quarter,” says Fernando Gonzalez, CEO of Cemex. “With improved supply chain dynamics and continued success of our pricing and cost-containment strategies, we remain confident we can recover our 2021 margins.”
