A number of performance, comfort and reliability enhancements accompany the Tier 4 Interim DL450-3 wheel loader, Doosan says. Improvements range from more engine horsepower to increased optional driving power and steering capabilities. The DL450-3’s horsepower was increased to 354 with a six-cylinder, water-cooled diesel engine that was optimized for use with selective catalyst reduction and diesel exhaust fluid to comply with emission regulations. The 775-cu.-in. engine features a high-pressure common-rail design with direct fuel injection, electronic control and four valves per cylinder, the company adds. Also, the high-pressure common-rail system increases the efficiency of fuel delivery by increasing the pressure up to 34,000 psi.
