Austin Powder names leaders for restructured US regions

Logo: Austin Powder Co.Austin Powder Co. (APC) named Reed Sapp the executive general manager of its Eastern Region and Bob Giovando the executive general manager of its Western Region for the company’s newly restructured U.S. operations.

Both Sapp and Giovando will report to the company’s president, Jason Rawlings, and the two will be part of the executive leadership team, the company says.

“We are establishing the Eastern and Western Regions to strengthen our organization and leverage APC’s focus on supporting our customers in quarrying, mining, seismic and construction with our national footprint,” Rawlings says.

Sapp joined Austin Powder in 1997 as its Southeast Division president. In 2011, he was promoted to corporate vice president of sales with responsibility for the company’s quarry, construction and seismic businesses. Sapp held various management roles over a 12-year tenure at Atlas Powder Co./ICI Explosives prior to joining Austin Powder.

As executive general manager of the Eastern Region, Sapp will lead the company’s Appalachian, Great Lakes, Midsouth, Northeast and Southeast Division companies.

Giovando started with Austin Powder in 2002 before becoming divisional president in 2003, with responsibilities for five locations in the Midwest. As executive general manager of the Western
Region, Giovando will lead the company’s Central States, South Central, Western and Mining Division companies.
