This year’s AGG1 and World of Asphalt shows in San Antonio featured a record amount of exhibit space, as well as solid attendance for the first two days of the events. Also, a record number of tickets to AGG1 Academy were sold.

“We’ve received excellent positive feedback on the shows’ value to bring together so many qualified buyers and sellers in one place, and for the networking and dialog with peers from across North America and internationally,” said Show Manager Rich Prausa.

The co-located 2013 AGG1 Aggregates Academy & Expo and World of Asphalt Show & Conference were held March 19-21, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio.

Near-record registered attendance topped 6,000 at close of the shows. Registrants came from all 50 states, eight Canadian provinces and 50 other countries worldwide. More than one-third were company presidents/owners, vice presidents, general managers or chief financial officers, and all together more than 84 percent of registrants were in managerial roles.

The sold-out show floor covered a record 123,600 net sq. ft. of exhibit space taken by more than 385 exhibitors. Leading manufacturers and suppliers showcased their latest products and technologies for the aggregates, asphalt, pavement maintenance and traffic-safety industry sectors.

Education is a cornerstone of the shows and attendees purchased a record 8,400-plus tickets for the shows’ education programs, including the AGG1 Academy and People, Plants and Paving Training Program.

The National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association held its annual convention during the event.

The next editions of AGG1 and World of Asphalt will be held in March 2015 in Baltimore and then in 2016 in Nashville. Next March the industry will gather in Las Vegas for ConExpo-Con/Agg.
