Hal Williford, president and CEO of Memphis Stone & Gravel Co., was named chairman of the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association’s (NSSGA) board of directors, succeeding Charles Luck IV.

“Hal has been a true leader of the aggregates industry and really understands the needs of our members, large and small,” says Mike Johnson, NSSGA president and CEO. “It has been a pleasure to work with Charlie, who brought valued-based leadership to our association. A multi-year highway funding bill became law, and our Annual Convention and AGG1 Academy & Expo broke attendance records. We are excited to build on those successes in the year ahead with Hal at the helm.”

Williford has served as president of Memphis Stone since 2003. He began his career as a quality control technician at Lehman-Roberts Company in 1985 and worked up to manager of materials and quality control by 1990. He was named vice president of Lehman-Roberts Company & Memphis Stone and Gravel Co. seven years later. He served on the board of the Associated General Contractors of West Tennessee and Tennessee Infrastructure Alliance. He also served as president of the Tennessee Road Builders Association in 2009, chaired the NSSGA Government Affairs Committee from 2008 to 2010 and is a member of NSSGA’s Executive Committee and a ROCKPAC trustee.

As chairman of NSSGA’s board of directors, Williford would like to focus on growing NSSGA membership among small- and medium-sized producers, as well as expand the association’s Rocks Build America plan.

“Three years ago NSSGA asked the members what was important to them, and out of that came the Rocks Build America strategic plan,” Williford says. “It has helped to guide this association well since 2014, and my goal this year is to continue that progress. I am eager to look for ways to improve every aspect of NSSGA to better serve our industry.”

Williford will hold the position through NSSGA’s next Annual Convention.
