Volvo appointed Melker Jernberg as president of Volvo Construction Equipment and a member of the Volvo Group executive board.

Jernberg currently serves as the president and CEO of Höganäs AB, a Sweden-based powder metallurgy company. Prior to this position, Jernberg served as executive vice president and head of business area EMEA at SSAB, a steel manufacturer in Sweden.

Jernberg will assume his new position with Volvo Construction Equipment on Jan. 1, 2018, and he will replace Martin Weissburg as president. Weissburg, who decided to move back to the United States due to family reasons, will take on a position as senior advisor to Volvo’s president and CEO Martin Lundstedt, according to the company.

“Martin Weissburg has, through his strong leadership, been key to the considerable improvement in the performance of Volvo Construction Equipment,” Lundstedt says. “He will continue to have senior positions with the Volvo Group.”
