The ‘Yellow Pages’

By |  August 31, 2015

d_constantinoOne of the benefits of being an editor is having the opportunity to read about all of the new equipment and technology being developed by the hundreds of equipment manufacturers supporting this industry. Details of it arrives in the way of press releases to my inbox every day (to my mailbox when I first started in publishing). Hopefully, we’ve done a good job of passing along that information to you.

And having worked at Pit & Quarry for nearly 20 years, I’ve witnessed, along with you, the acceleration of new technologies in the aggregates industry. Do you read our Looking Back page at the end of every issue? The old equipment you see there might not look all that different from what you see in use today. But “under the hood,” the equipment used at modern aggregate operations is superior by leaps and bounds to what was produced 50, 25, even 10 years ago.

Whether making an operation more efficient, more productive, easier to control, safer to employees, or more friendly to the neighbors and environment, equipment innovations have transformed the modern aggregates operation into a much different place than the one where your grandfather might have worked.

Our annual September issue Buyers’ Guide will help you to find that new equipment for your crushed-stone quarry or sand-and-gravel pit. Think of it as the Yellow Pages of the industry. Also, detailed contact information for suppliers is listed in alphabetical order, and distributors are listed by state. We even offer a brand name index, to help you know who makes what.

And, of course, new technology isn’t limited to the aggregates industry. We in the media have it, too. Our latest online Buyers’ Guide is a far cry from our original, which was basically a set of non-interactive lists that we first posted to the Internet nearly 20 years ago. Our current online Buyers’ Guide (www.pitandquarrybuyersguide.com) is now searchable, interactive and useable on a smartphone, too.

So whether it’s the print version, the digital edition or our interactive online offering, the Pit & Quarry Buyers’ Guide is designed to help you find the right equipment suppliers and distributors.
