SME designs mobile app for annual meeting attendees

By |  January 22, 2014

The Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration (SME) introduced a free mobile app designed to improve attendees’ experience at its upcoming annual meeting.

It will help users keep track of what’s happening at SME’s annual meeting and exhibit, which is scheduled to take place in Salt Lake City, Utah, February 23-26. In addition, immediate alerts from staff members at the event will allow attendees to keep up on what’s happening there.

The app’s dashboard will guide users to:

  • abstracts;
  • alumni and special functions;
  • attendee directory;
  • calendar of events;
  • exhibitor listings;
  • maps, exhibit and hotel floor plans;
  • short courses; and
  • technical sessions.

Attendees can use the “My Schedule” feature to manage their daily schedule and the “Find Me” locator to show them their current location in relation to the exhibitor booths. They also can use the app to post real-time updates of their experiences at the meeting to Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter.

The app also features a “Local Places” option that focuses on nearby activities and attractions, as well as options for bars and nightlife, family fun, restaurants, shopping, arts and culture, transportation, sports and more.
