PQ1410_brandnew-volvo-300The EC480E crawler excavator lowers operating costs through reduced fuel consumption and simple maintenance requirements, according to Volvo Construction Equipment. A Tier 4 Final Volvo D13 engine powers the excavator, delivering high digging and breakout forces along with reduced emissions and improved fuel efficiency, the company says. An integrated work mode system offers operators a choice of work modes according to the task at hand, including idle, fine, general and heavy. When the controls are inactive for a preset amount of time, the excavator can be programmed to automatically reduce engine speed or even shut down to further reduce fuel consumption and noise. Operators can keep track of both current and average fuel consumption via a gauge in the cab.
