Vulcan Materials elects director
October 13, 2008Richard T. O’Brien has been elected a director of Vulcan Materials Co., the company announced. O’Brien is president and CEO of Newmont Mining, a gold producer with operations on five continents. Prior to his current position, O’Brien was Newmont’s president and CFO. In addition to serving as a director of Newmont Mining, O’Brien is a director of Inergy Holdings, L.P. With the addition of O’Brien, Vulcan’s 12-member board consists of 11 outside directors.p>
