Midwest Minerals receives reclamation honor
October 29, 2009Midwest Minerals Inc., winner of the Kansas State Conservation Commission 2008 Governor’s Mined Land Reclamation Award in July 2009, has been recognized to receive the top national award from the National Association of State Land Reclamationists. Its chief executive, Steve Sloan, is immediate past chairman of the NSSGA board of directors. The state award recognized the reclamation work of Midwest Minerals Inc. at its Pittsburg, Kan., quarry. The first award was presented by U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius, the former governor of Kansas, at the State Capitol.p>
