Luck Stone cuts impact about 150 employees
November 13, 2008A housing slowdown, the financial crisis and cuts to state transportation funding have prompted Luck Stone Corp. to lay off or reassign nearly 17 percent of its workforce, the Richmond (Va.) Times-Dispatch reported. About 150 employees across the entire organization were impacted by the reduction in force, spread among 30 locations in Virginia, Maryland and North Carolina. The company had about 900 workers before the cuts. Luck Stone has more than 15 crushed stone quarries in Virginia and North Carolina.p>
