Lafarge wins award from Canadian association

Lafarge’s Fonthill Pit operation in Pelham, Canada, received the Award of Excellence from the Ontario Stone, Sand & Gravel Association. The company held an open house at its sand pits to celebrate the award. To receive honors, a company must demonstrate progressive rehabilitation, property enhancement and good community relations. The Lafarge Fonthill Pit produces concrete sand, asphalt sand and masonry sand for bricks, cable sand, filter sand and grandular A. Two 12-hour shifts work the site, which has about 15 employees.p>
