John Deere unveils Tier 4 Final excavator

John Deere launched the 470G LC excavator, the company’s latest member of its production-class equipment lineup to be updated to meet Tier 4 Final emission standards.

The 367-hp model comes fully loaded with a Tier 4 Final 13.5-liter diesel engine; a comfortable and spacious cab; and an enhanced LCD monitor with simplified navigation, John Deere says. In addition, optional 2-D/3-D grade guidance sensor mounting brackets enable customers to install their preferred aftermarket grade-control system.

“The construction industry continues to demand machinery that features enhanced uptime capabilities and technology that enhances the customer’s bottom line,” says Mark Wall, excavator product marketing manager at John Deere Construction & Forestry. “Our production-class excavator portfolio continues to enhance itself with the 470G LC, which includes an automatically cleaning diesel particulate filter (DPF) and optional 2-D/3-D grade guidance sensor mounting brackets, offering contractors a durable solution for earthmoving, pipeline and road-building projects.”

In addition, the model offers simplified maintenance options, with features such as a battery disconnect switch, spin-on fuel filters and two additional water separators to maintain long fuel filter life, the company says. The 470G LC’s DPF can go up to 15,000 hours before ash removal, and, like its counterparts, engine and hydraulic oil sample ports allow for quick and convenient, proactive maintenance checks, which keep operators running longer, according to John Deere. Also, an improved step position on the track frame and handrails on the upper structure provide multiple points of contact when accessing the engine compartment.
