Congress proceeds with 2011 funding measures

December 20, 2010

A House-passed continuing resolution extending highway programs through September 2011 might have a new look after the Senate considers a shorter version on Dec. 21, according to NSSGA. With Republicans opposed to a long-term continuing resolution, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., moved to strike House language and insert a Senate amendment extending government programs through March 4, 2011, NSSGA reported. Reid filed a cloture motion that will allow the Senate to vote to end debate on the resolution early Dec. 21 and pass the bill, followed by House consideration later on Dec. 21.
