SME_logoThe Florida Section of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration (FLSME) is set to host its 31st Annual Regional Mining Conference Oct. 12-13 at the Lakeland Center in Lakeland, Fla. According to FLSME, the theme of the conference is “Mining for Life,” and it will provide a forum for mining, chemical processing, reclamation and environmental experts to exchange technical information and ideas.

With support from the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the Association of Fertilizer and Phosphate Chemists and the Florida Association of Professional Geologists, the two-day event provides attendees with the opportunity to network and to attend luncheons, receptions and technical sessions.

According to FLSME, more than 80 vendors will be at the event. Topics covered during the technical sessions will include analytical/regulatory, career development, chemical processing, geology, mineral processing, mining, public relations, reclamation and safety/environmental.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to attend a site field trip at the Cemex Davenport Sand Mine. However, FLSME reports, space is limited. Learn more about the event here.

The Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration is a professional society with more than 15,000 members representing professions serving the mining, minerals and underground construction industries in more than 100 countries.
