In fact, its use recently led to Southern Quarries Pty Ltd of Adelaide, South Australia, to be awarded the Cement, Concrete & Aggregates Australia (CCAA) Health & Safety Extractive – Environmental Innovation Award. This award is presented to the quarry operation achieving the best overall environmental innovation performance, considering its location, size and age. Southern Quarries was chosen for this award for its “environmentally sustainable” way to produce quality-manufactured sand, considering such determining factors as air quality, water management and waste management.
