Continental adds hydraulic products distributor

Continental added Tompkins Industries as a wholesaler of its hydraulic products, expanding Continental’s product distribution across North America.

According to Continental, Tompkins is one of its largest hydraulic products customers.

Tompkins, based in Olathe, Kan., has 14 locations across North America. The company offers industrial hose and assemblies, as well as a variety of hydraulic adapters and fluid power products. According to Continental, the companies anticipate the changeover will be complete by the end of August. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Ryan Gocher, Continental NAFTA’s hydraulics sales and marketing manager, says Continental anticipates a smooth transition in the changeover process. He adds that Tompkins fits perfectly into the company’s plans to expand its distribution channels.

Bill Hartman, a national sales manager for Tompkins, says Continental is a good fit for his company, as well.

“I like to say we found each other in a cornfield in Iowa,” Hartman says. “In all seriousness, Continental gives us the corporate support we have sought for some time. We’ve been in business since 1967, so we knew what we were looking for and found it in Continental.”

Continental develops products for transporting people and their goods. The company is an automotive supplier, a tire manufacturer and an industrial partner.
