Inventure Design, the architecture firm behind the design of Cemex USA’s new headquarters in Houston, received the 2017 Award of Excellence – Medium Project from the Houston Chapter of the International Facilities Management Association.

Cemex USA moved into the 82,000 sq.-ft. space in January 2017. The headquarters hosts nearly 200 corporate employees who occupy two floors of the MetroNational-owned building.

The headquarters is highlighted by a spiral staircase, which connects the company’s offices on the second and third floors. The staircase features a handrail made of rebar and incorporates steel within the poured concrete for extra strength, embodying a poured-in-place concrete product.

The building also houses the company’s Customer Experience Center, which gives the appearance of a high-tech trading floor with video monitors displaying up-to-the-second information mounted on a circular ring of rebar.

“The new headquarters showcases the strength and versatility of Cemex and our products,” says Edmond Prins, Cemex USA’s director of real estate. “The architects at Inventure Design did a magnificent job utilizing the power of Cemex products to give the building an industrial feel and thoughtfully incorporating our concrete, cement and aggregates throughout the structure.”
