CalPortland received the 2016-17 Community Excellence Award from the Arizona Rock Products Association (ARPA) for its contributions to local communities made throughout the past year.

According to ARPA, CalPortland’s Coolidge, Arizona-based Diablo Sand and Gravel plant’s Burrowing Owl Relocation Operation received special consideration from the judges this year. The project took place over a period of eight months.

CalPortland also earned the award for participating in the Arizona Mining Days on the Capitol lawn, as well as Career Day for high school students who are curious about careers in the mining and construction industries.

In addition, CalPortland earned the Gold Status Award from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality’s Voluntary Environmental Stewardship Program for improving its plants’ appearances and participating in environmental sustainability.

Founded in 1891, CalPortland produces cement, ready-mixed concrete, aggregate, concrete products and asphalt in the western United States and Canada.
