Video series offers tips to improve pit operations
March 16, 2010Caterpillar has developed a series of 22 short videos offering tips on improving pit operations in quarry and aggregates mines. The videos are available for free viewing on the Cat web site: www.cat.com/quarry-aggregates-and-cement/pit-operations.
Caterpillar mobile equipment and quarry specialists provide commentary on topics ranging from bucket loading and truck spotting to haul road design and maintenance.
“When trying to improve a production operation, think of time … a little bit here; a little bit there. There are no magic formulas, but there are a couple of dozen places in a work cycle where you can cut time,” said Don Stretch, senior quarry applications consultant. “When you save time, it amounts to more production achieved with fewer resources.”
In introducing the video series, Stretch encourages quarry operators to take the opportunity to learn some new techniques to achieve optimum performance.
