Excavator lowers ownership cost

Terex’s TXC300 LC-2 excavator includes upgrades and advanced features over the TXC300 LC-1 that are designed to increase operator comfort, productivity and fuel efficiency. According to the company, a lower cost of ownership will be realized with the TXC300 LC-2 because of longer intervals between oil changes, air-filter replacements and front-pin lubrication. The new unit also features a Tier-3, emission-compliant engine that uses a common rail injection system. The advanced system uses high fuel injection pressure to burn the smallest particle fuel size completely, which eliminates smoke and increases fuel efficiency. According to Terex, the new engine combined with the new electronic management system (e-EPOS) increases productivity by 4 percent and fuel efficiency by 6 percent. The company says the new e-EPOS system also gives operators access to advanced self-diagnostic technology for quick and precise problem resolution. A new attachment flow rate control allows the operator to adjust the discharge oil flow to attachments precisely to the gpm required for the tool.

Excavator enhances performance, durability

Caterpillar’s 345D L hydraulic excavator is a direct replacement for the 345C L. The new model builds on the strengths of its predecessor while incorporating new designs that enhance performance and durability. Engine horsepower has been increased by 10 percent, yet the 345D L uses about the same amount of fuel in tough digging, high duty cycle applications. To conserve fuel during light-duty work, the hydraulic and engine control system has been redesigned to include a new power management feature. The operator now has the flexibility to select from alternative engine and hydraulic power settings without sacrificing breakout force or lift capacity. The alternative power options are accessible through the new D-Series monitor in the cab. The new excavator also has undercarriage improvements, a heavier counterweight for greater stability and lifting performance, a standard heated seat and other new features to make it a valuable tool for high-production excavating, loading and underground utilities work.

Excavator rises into 80- to 90-ton class

Kobelco Construction Machinery America’s SK850LC Super ACERA heavy-duty, full-size excavator expands the company’s full line of products into the 80- to 90-ton class. The excavator, which has four standard working modes, has faster cycle times as well as a large bucket capacity. The SK850LC provides competitive breakout, drawbar pull and swing torque forces, combining precision and power to maximize performance. It is easier to transport compared with other machines in its class. The excavator can easily be configured four different ways for shipping and transport to meet varying local requirements, thus reducing the time, cost and number of trucks needed to move to a job site. The SK850LC is designed to simplify routine maintenance checks. A centrally located catwalk provides access to filters, engine compartment, swing motors and storage areas. Other routine maintenance checks are easily completed from a walking platform.

Hydraulic excavator monitored closely

Komatsu America Corp.’s PC2000-8 hydraulic excavator has a net horsepower of 956, an operating weight between 440,920 to 450,000 lbs. and a bucket capacity range of 15.7 cu. yd. A standard Vehicle Health Monitoring System (VHMS) with Orbcomm monitors the health conditions of major machine components and enables remote analysis of the machine and its operation, contributing to reduced repair costs and maximum availability. Special features of the PC2000-8 include a low-emissions engine, easy and cost-effective maintenance, and spacious and quiet cab for optimal operator comfort. The excavator features a powerful, clean, fuel-efficient, turbocharged Komatsu SAA12V140E-3 engine, which meets EPA Tier 2 emission regulations without sacrificing power or machine productivity. The PC2000-8 was designed to reduce costly downtime with its power module packaging, which allows for the easy installation and removal of the machine’s components.

Crawler tractor delivers power, force

Liebherr’s PR764 Litronic is a hydrostatically driven crawler tractor that delivers maximum pushing power and ripping force in all speed ranges regardless of the surface. It has an operating weight of up to 52.5t and features a new drive concept. The D9508 310 kW/422 hp Liebherr V8 diesel engine drives the crawler by means of four variable displacement pumps and engines, each in a closed circuit. The PR 764 Litronic has a redesigned operator’s cab, which provides an unobstructed view of the entire work area and great visibility of the blade and rear ripper. Noise levels in the cab are minimal and are reduced even further by the 1,600-rpm engine and the demand-controlled hydrostatic cooling system. Easily accessible maintenance hoods, a fuel tank filling point on the side, a standard tilt cab and the centrally positioned maintenance modules make the PR764 Litronic easy to maintain and also ensure safe operation.
