A 3-D printed excavator was showcased at ConExpo-Con/Agg 2017. Case Construction Equipment loaned Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) the mini excavator body. ORNL, in collaboration with Wolf Robotics and Cincinnati Inc., printed the stick and cab portion of the excavator. The Association of Equipment Manufacturers, the National Fluid Power Association, the Center for Compact and Efficient Fluid Power, Georgia Tech, the University of Illinois and the University of Minnesota supported the project, including student design competitions.
